I wonder if Mattereum could be employed to track actual usage of items?
We could radically transform economic incentives. Planned obsolescence exists as most items only generate revenue at the point of sale.
So, it makes sense to have them break down, so you can sell another.
But, what if organisations can earn revenue anytime someone actually uses their product.
This dampens incentives to sell people things they won’t use and don’t need (marketing to impulses).
This increases the incentives for organisations to set up sharing cooperatives — so items can be used more frequently (increase revenue) with reduced cost (decreased production).
Now, where the money comes from to reward these organisations — that is another discussion — and Mattereum could play a key role in creating this “regenerative economy”.
